How Product Sampling Campaigns Work in Lahore

A product sampling campaign is more than handing out free items. The strongest campaigns combine the right audience, authorised locations, consistent field execution and a clear digital or commercial next step.

Product sampling gives a brand a direct physical interaction with a potential customer. In Lahore, that can be useful for launches, awareness, trials, offers, events and local market testing. The campaign becomes more valuable when the distribution plan is connected to a defined audience and measurable follow-up.

1. Decide what the customer should experience

Start with the moment of handover. What is the customer receiving, why will it be useful or interesting, and what should happen immediately afterwards? The physical item may be the brand’s own sample, a branded bottle or beverage, merchandise, an event kit or another approved format.

The item should match the activation environment. A useful product in the wrong setting can still create weak engagement.

2. Build the target audience and location plan together

Sampling works best when the audience is specific enough for the field team to understand. “Everyone” is not a distribution instruction. Define who should receive the item and where those people can be reached in a permission-based, practical way.

A focused campaign might use one Lahore area. A growth campaign can use several areas or multiple days. Larger or special activations may require custom staffing, venue coordination or logistics.

3. Confirm who supplies the product

There are two common models:

  • Client-supplied product: the brand provides finished items and FreeConnect plans the activation, QR journey, coordination and reporting scope.
  • Sourced/branded campaign item: the required products, printing or branding are quoted as separate physical execution costs.

Quantity, lead time, artwork, storage, transport and handling should be confirmed before the activation date.

4. Add a clear call-to-action

Sampling creates the first interaction; the call-to-action creates the next one. A printed QR code can direct the customer to a WhatsApp conversation, offer, lead form, campaign landing page or redemption experience.

Keep it simple: the customer should understand why they should scan. “Scan to learn more” is weaker than a specific, relevant benefit such as accessing an offer, joining a campaign, claiming a benefit or giving structured feedback.

5. Test the artwork and QR code before production

Before a large print or production run, test the item as a customer would use it. Scan the code from the expected distance, open the page on common mobile screen sizes, submit the form, test WhatsApp links, and confirm that campaign identifiers are being captured correctly.

Any artwork approval should be final before products go into production. Last-minute design changes can affect supplier lead times and campaign dates.

6. Prepare the distribution workflow

A field plan should define dates, time windows, areas or venues, quantity allocation, team responsibilities, transport and what evidence is required. Where a venue or property requires permission, that approval should be handled before the campaign begins.

For multi-area campaigns, allocate stock by location so that the final report can distinguish where distribution happened.

7. Capture field evidence without overstating reach

Useful evidence can include prepared quantity, dispatch or handover records, location/date notes, approved field photos and remaining stock where relevant. Reporting should distinguish between items distributed and digital actions.

For example, 1,000 items distributed and 120 QR scans are two different metrics. The scan rate can be calculated from those figures, but the distributed quantity itself should not be described as 1,000 verified digital impressions.

8. Connect sampling data to business outcomes

Depending on the campaign design, useful digital KPIs can include QR scans, unique landing-page sessions, lead forms, WhatsApp clicks, coupon claims, store redemptions or another agreed conversion event.

Use the Campaign Impact Estimator for planning scenarios, but treat estimator outputs as illustrative rather than guaranteed campaign results.

9. Understand the quote structure

FreeConnect separates campaign management from physical campaign costs. Standard Lahore campaign management starts from PKR 25,000 for a normal-scope campaign. Products, branding/printing, field distribution, logistics, staffing and special requirements are quoted separately.

This structure allows a campaign using 50 premium items to be planned differently from one using 1,000 lower-cost items without pretending both should have the same execution cost.

10. Review the campaign after execution

The final review should compare the original objective with the evidence collected. Ask which audience or location generated the strongest response, whether the QR call-to-action was clear, whether stock allocation was appropriate, and what should change before scaling.

Sampling campaign checklist:
  • Primary objective selected
  • Audience and Lahore areas defined
  • Product source and quantity confirmed
  • Artwork and QR destination tested
  • Venue/field permissions confirmed where needed
  • Distribution responsibility assigned
  • Reporting KPIs agreed before launch

When those decisions are ready, submit them through the FreeConnect campaign brief and the team can scope the next steps.
